Attention High School Seniors!

Ledge Light Federal Credit Union will award four (2) graduating high school seniors with up to $500.00 to use for an accredited two-year or four-year college college.

Eligible Applicants Must:

  • Be and remain a member in good standing of Ledge Light FCU.*
  • Be a graduating senior with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  • Be accepted as an incoming freshman to a college, university, vocational school.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to your community.
    *Excludes immediate families of LLFCU employees and board of directors.

All Applicants Must Submit:

  • A completed Ledge Light Federal Credit Union scholarship application
  • Official transcript from high school
  • Typed essay (min 500 words, no larger than 12 pt. font double spaced),
  • Notice of acceptance to chosen post secondary school.

Selection Process:

All entries become the sole property of Ledge Light Federal Credit Union. The judging will be done by a scholarship committee comprised of a Manager and/or volunteer of Ledge Light Federal Credit Union and all decisions are final.

Amount of Scholarship:

Up to two (2) $500 scholarship and will be awarded. Winners will be annouced at the 2010 Ledge Light Federal Credit Union Annual meeting at the Groton Inn & Suites Thursday, May 20, 2010, 5:00 pm.

Essay:

On a separate piece of paper, please complete an essay on one of the following topics:

  • The credit union philosophy is "People Helping People." Describe how this philosophy has impacted your life.
  • Credit unions adopt the motto "Not-for-Profit, Not for Charity, But for Service." Explain how you can adapt this motto to improve the quality of life for you and those around you.
  • Explain the importance of good financial credit history.

Deadline: Wednesday, April 30, 2010

The scholarship package must be postmarked by April 30, 2010.
